Angle

Hot Rolled Steel Angle is a product which has two legs to form a 90 degree angle. This product is designed to be used in both structural applications and general fabrication. Its range of applications are wide and can include trailer manufacturing, safety cages, walkways, farming equipment, and anywhere where it is important to improve the structure’s rigidity. Hot rolled angle is available in equal leg (legs are the same length) or unequal leg (legs are different lengths). Contact National Salvage for more information about metal types, shape and grades available.

How to measure:

Angle is measured first by the lengths of the legs and then the thickness of the legs. Contact National Salvage for more information about metal types, shape and grades available.

Channel

Hot Rolled Steel Channel is a structural metal that has many different applications across several industries. It is a common building and construction material. It also used in the ship building and automotive industries, and general fabrication where structural properties are required. Hot Rolled Channel comes in many sizes and shapes such as Bar Mill, Ships and Car Sizes, Stair Stringers (Junior) and the more common Structural Channel. Contact National Salvage for more information about this metal type, shape and grades available.

How to measure:

If laid flat, it can be measured by taking the width of the channels, the height of its Flange (legs) and Web (thickness of the material between the two flanges). More commonly it is measurement by taking its width and pounds per foot.

Expanded

Hot Rolled Steel Expanded Metal (or expanded sheet) is essentially a piece of hot rolled sheet that has been cut and stretched into a mesh with diamond-shaped spaces. There are two types of Expanded Metal in hot rolled: raised and flattened. Expanded Metal is typically used in applications where it is essential to have water, light or air pass through. Contact National Salvage for more information about metal types, shapes and grades available.

How to measure Expanded:

If ordering expanded metal sheets, you need to know measurement of the diamond (width-wise) as well as the dimensions shown in the diagram.

Standard Sizes:

Coming soon will be a list of common sizes that we carry in stock as well as sizes that we are able to order in.

Flat Bar

Hot Rolled Steel Rectangular Bar is also referred to as Hot Rolled Flat Bar. It is measured by first taking its thickness and then its width. Hot Rolled Steel Bar is a commonly used metal across many industries. It can be used in place of cold rolled flat bar in situations where precise shapes and tolerances are not required. Hot Rolled Steel Bar is typically less expensive than Cold Rolled Steel Bar. Contact National Salvage for more information about metal types, shapes and grades available.

How to measure Flat:

Flat Bar is measured by the thickness and the width & typically available in lengths up to 20′

Standard Sizes:

Coming soon will be a list of common sizes that we carry in stock as well as sizes that we are able to order in.

Solid Round Bar

It has many applications across many industries including fabrication, manufacturing and repair. It can be easily welded and fabricated.  It can be used in place of Cold Rolled Round Bar in situations where precise tolerances are not required. Contact National Salvage for more information about metal types, shapes and grades available.

How to measure Solid Round:

Hot Rolled Steel Round Bar is measured by its diameter.

Standard Sizes:

Hot Rolled Round Bar can be purchased in sizes as small as 3/16″ diameter and as large as 12″ diameter.

Solid Square Bar

Hot Rolled Steel Square Bar is a common bar stock with many applications. It is measured by taking its thickness or its width which are the same. It is characterized by its radius corners, as opposed to cold rolled solid square, which has sharper corners. Contact National Salvage for more information about metal types, shapes and grades available.

How to measure Solid Square:

Solid Square is measured by taking its thickness or its width which are the same.

Standard Sizes:

Coming soon will be a list of common sizes that we carry in stock as well as sizes that we are able to order in.

Schedule Pipe

Hot Rolled Steel Pipe is manufactured to move volumes – such as water, gas and oil. It is a material commonly used in plumbing and construction applications as well as the oil industry, although it can serve a large variety of purposes. Contact National Salvage for more information about metal types, shape and grades available.

How to measure Pipe:

Pipe is measured by first taking the inside nominal diameter, and then the thickness of the wall (also known as Schedule).

Standard Sizes:

H.S.S.

Steel Tube is hot rolled steel that has been formed into a square or rectangular tube. It is commonly referred to as HSS, (meaning Hollow Structural Section). Typically it has an inside seam due to it being welded, although can be ordered as a seamless for uses such as receivers. Applications include trailers, barriers, racks, home construction and many more. Used in general fabrication where strength is a requirement. Contact National Salvage for more information about this metal type, shape and grades available.

Hot Rolled Steel Plate

It has many applications in the manufacturing, industrial and construction industries where it is used structurally (sometimes aesthetically). Contact National Salvage for more information about metal types, shape and grades available.

How to measure plate:

Hot Rolled Steel Plate is a piece of flattened hot rolled steel that is measured by the thickness, using the gauge when less than than 3/16″ (0.188). Our typical stock sheets are 4′ x 8′
